Complete composite panels with a continuous wood face over a honeycomb core and a brushed aluminium face over layered plywood
Composite plywood with honeycomb cores and aluminium faces

Choose the face and core around your component. Mark cut dimensions, edge closures and fixing points on the drawing, with finished-panel weight and protective packing for the parts you need.

Plan the panel and its assembly.
CHOOSE THE COMPLETE FACE TO REVERSE CONSTRUCTION

Build the panel around the surface and assembly.

Composite plywood is a construction choice, not one fixed material. Bring both skins, the core, facing, adhesive, edge members and attachment points into the same specification. Our factory quotation describes the finished panel and the processing your component needs.

Plywood skins with a honeycomb core

Choose plywood for both outer skins and specify the cellular core between them. The skin thickness, wood species, core material and bonding interfaces describe the complete panel. Plan solid edge members and local fixing points with the panel rather than adding them after cutting.

For your enquiry: Plywood species and skin thicknesses, honeycomb material and cell arrangement, overall thickness, bond, edge closures and insert locations.

Plywood skins with a foam core

Combine plywood skins with a named foam core for a project that calls for a sandwich construction. Specify the foam type, core thickness and density separately from the plywood. Keep any insulation, load or fire requirements with the complete panel and its intended installation.

For your enquiry: Plywood skins, foam type and core specification, adhesives, finished thickness, mass target, edge details and project requirements.

Aluminium facings bonded to plywood

Order a metal surface over a plywood substrate, with the face alloy, thickness, finish and reverse arrangement clearly specified. The metal facing, secondary adhesive and wood panel work as a combined construction. Include dimensional stability, protective film and the edge detail in the factory order.

For your enquiry: Aluminium face and reverse, plywood species and thickness, bonding requirements, surface finish, flatness, exposed edges and processing.

PLYWOOD SKINS AND THE CORE BETWEEN THEM

Specify honeycomb and foam sandwich panels for the part.

Honeycomb plywood panels use cellular cores between plywood skins; foam-core plywood sandwich panels use a continuous foam layer. Specify the exact arrangement, target mass, support and attachment details so the material and processing fit your drawing.

Define both plywood skins

For honeycomb plywood panels or foam-core plywood sandwich panels, identify the plywood on each side: species, veneer arrangement, skin thickness, grain and finish. The two skins and the core jointly determine the construction your workshop receives.

Specify the core and its bonding faces

Name the honeycomb material or foam type, thickness and core requirements. For honeycomb, include cell orientation and any bonding surface layer. Select the adhesive for the actual materials and service conditions, with the required skin-to-core bond checks in the order.

Build in edges and attachment points

Mark hinges, handles, rails, brackets and concentrated loads on the drawing. Specify edge members, bonded inserts, local reinforcement or through-fixing details where required. Give their locations before manufacture so cutting does not remove an intended fixing point.

METAL SURFACE WOOD SUBSTRATE COMPLETE PANEL

Choose aluminium faced plywood from face to reverse.

Define the metal surface and the plywood underneath it together. Include both-face arrangement, secondary bonding, finished thickness, flatness and the way the panel will be cut or fixed. The metal finish is one part of the construction your project uses.

Choose the metal surface your component needs

For aluminium faced plywood, specify alloy and temper, facing thickness, mill or brushed finish, coating and protective film. Mark the visible face and any grain or brushing direction, with appearance and handling requirements for matching parts.

Keep the substrate, adhesive and reverse together

Choose the plywood species, lay-up, bond and finished thickness alongside the metal facing. Specify the secondary adhesive and opposite-face arrangement for the intended temperatures and moisture conditions. Keep the complete construction with the flatness requirements.

Plan cut edges, holes and installation

Provide profiles, hole positions, edge closures, joints and attachment details. Agree tooling and handling for wood and metal together, including burr removal and protection of the finished surface. Assess corrosion compatibility where fixings contact aluminium.

ORDER A PANEL FOR THE COMPONENT YOU MAKE

Bring surface, weight and fixing needs into one order.

Start with what you are making and how it will be supported and joined. Give us the finished-part dimensions, facing, mass target and hardware locations, with quantities and the product information your project requires.

Furniture, doors and larger interior parts

Build the panel around the visible surface, finished dimensions and the way hinges, brackets or handles attach. Include perimeter members and local reinforcement in the drawing for a sandwich part rather than treating the core as solid timber.

For your enquiry: Part schedule, finish, mass target, hinge or bracket positions, edge detail, flatness and quantity.

Vehicle and marine interior components

Specify the complete panel for the interior component, including support, vibration, temperature and moisture conditions. Coordinate fixings, surface and edge protection with the vehicle or vessel design and its required product documents.

For your enquiry: Component drawing, supports, joints, service conditions, mass target, finish and project standards.

Shopfitting, display and partition parts

Order matching surfaces and finished blanks around your installation plan. Identify exposed edges, joints, hanging points and repeated components so the construction, machining and pack labels fit the way your team assembles them.

For your enquiry: Visible faces, matching sets, mounting details, cut list, insert positions, finish and delivery sequence.

Equipment cases and protective panels

Choose the panel with the case frame, corner profiles, latches and handles in mind. Specify local fixing support, cut-edge closure and surface protection, with the finished-part mass and handling requirements for the complete case.

For your enquiry: Case dimensions, frame and hardware, loads, attachment details, facing, cut sizes and quantities.

EDGES INSERTS AND FIT BEFORE MANUFACTURE

Prepare the panel for cutting, fixing and handling.

Keep the cut list, internal reinforcement and attachment drawing together. Our quotation identifies the agreed factory machining, edge closures, labels and protective support, so the panel is supplied around your assembly plan.

Cut to the finished component schedule

Give datum edges, the presentation face, surface direction and finished dimensions for each part. Identify whether cutting takes place before or after core inserts and edge members are fitted. Keep internal features and labels with the drawing revision.

Carry hardware loads into the designed support

Specify attachment locations, backing, inserts and local reinforcement for the forces your part will carry. A screw into an unsupported cellular core is not equivalent to fixing into solid plywood. Keep the fixing design and inspection requirements with the component.

Close and protect the machined edges

Agree edge bands, solid members, bonded closures or sealing around the selected construction. Include holes, joints and later site cuts in the protection plan. Match adhesives, sealants and coating to the core, facings and expected moisture conditions.

Protect the face through packing and assembly

Use protective film or separators where specified, with flat support and corner protection for the finished parts. Mark stacking and lifting points for larger panels. State when temporary surface protection should be removed during installation.

Keep panel mass and fixing details with the part drawing.

For a uniform finished panel, multiply its kg/m² by length and width in metres to calculate sheet mass. State whether the figure includes edge members, inserts, facing and adhesive, then add separate hardware and packing where needed. Compare constructions against the same component and support requirements.

Give each part a code and drawing revision. Locate perimeter members and inserts from named datum edges, and mark the cuts that must preserve internal fixing support. Include any later workshop cuts, holes and edge protection in the part plan.

Keep the part codes with pack labels and the assembly sequence. On arrival, check quantities, part identity, dimensions, facing, edges and transport damage before assembly. Retain the internal-feature drawing and product documents with the delivered parts.

BUYER QUESTIONS

Panel construction, assembly and factory purchasing

Questions before you order composite plywood panels.

What are composite plywood panels?

Composite plywood panels combine plywood with other materials in a defined construction. They can use plywood skins around a honeycomb or foam core, or a metal facing bonded to a plywood substrate. Describe both faces, the core, adhesives, edges and reinforcement so the name refers to the panel your component needs.

Does CUZI PLY manufacture the finished composite panels?

Yes. CUZI PLY is the factory and direct supplier in Linyi, Shandong, China, with 10 production lines across our plywood range. We manufacture the finished composite panels using the specified plywood, cores, facings and adhesives, with agreed machining, edge details, product documents and export packing.

How do I specify honeycomb plywood panels?

Define the plywood skins on both sides and the honeycomb material, cell arrangement, density and thickness. Add the bonding interfaces, overall thickness, target panel mass, edge closures and insert locations. Include the component loads, supports and required checks with the drawing.

What is a plywood sandwich panel with a foam core?

It has plywood skins bonded around a specified foam core. Name the foam type and density, skin species and thicknesses, adhesives and complete-panel dimensions. The finished construction and installation need their own mechanical, insulation, moisture or fire information where your project requires it.

Is aluminium faced plywood the same as an aluminium composite sheet?

No. Aluminium faced plywood has a wood plywood substrate with a bonded aluminium surface. An aluminium composite sheet may have metal skins around a different core. State the actual face-to-reverse construction, including the plywood and adhesive; aluminum is the US spelling of aluminium.

Can I choose one or two metal faces?

Specify the face and reverse materials and the finish of each side, whether one or both are visible. Include flatness, moisture and temperature requirements so the substrate, facing, adhesive and balancing arrangement are selected together.

How should hinges, handles and brackets be attached?

Provide their locations and the loads on the component drawing. Specify suitable inserts, edge members, local reinforcement or through-fixing details rather than relying on an unsupported cellular core. Keep backing, bonding, fasteners and the relevant attachment checks with the panel order.

How do I compare the weight of different composite panels?

Compare complete constructions at the required finished size, thickness and component requirements. Use finished-panel kg/m² or measured part mass, including facings, adhesives and reinforcement. Core density alone does not give the mass of the finished panel or its attachment hardware.

How do I specify moisture and fire requirements?

Describe the intended environment and installation, then name the required methods and documents for the finished construction. Include skins, core, adhesives, coating, cut edges and joints. A metal surface or moisture-resistant core alone does not classify the complete panel for fire or wet-service use.

Can I order custom sheet sizes and finished components?

Yes. Use our factory formats or send a cut list with exact dimensions, thickness, quantity, tolerances and surface direction. Identify inserts, edge members, holes and exposed edges before cutting. Custom length and width are manufacturing choices; keep the product construction and applicable documents with the order.

What should I include for machining and assembly?

Provide reference edges, profiles, holes, joints, inserts and fixing locations, with the required fit and finish. Specify the intended processing method and protective support. We confirm cutting, machining, closure, labelling and packing scope in the factory quotation.

What should stay the same when I reorder composite components?

Keep the part codes, drawing revision and complete face-to-reverse construction with the repeat order. Record the skins, core, facings, adhesives, perimeter members and insert locations, along with surface direction, finished dimensions, mass target and tolerances. Retain the product documents and pack labels from the first delivery, then identify any changes to fixings, finish or service conditions. A similar face, thickness or weight does not make a different core or bonding arrangement interchangeable.

Should I buy full sheets or machined composite components?

Compare the same finished part list and complete construction, including skins, reverse, core, edge members and inserts. A sheet quote needs a layout that preserves internal fixing support; a component quote also lists cuts, profiles, holes, edge closures, finish, checks, labels and protective packing. Include freight and the work your workshop still needs to do, such as hardware and final assembly. Compare the price unit and delivered part quantities, not just a sheet price or core density.

How do I get a quote or request a sample?

Send the component use, face and core materials, finished thickness, dimensions, mass target, edge and fixing details, quantities and destination. Add required documents and delivery timing. For a sample, identify the surface, core, edge or attachment detail you want to evaluate; we confirm availability, any sample and courier costs and dispatch arrangements before proceeding.
